Fort Lauderdale Body ContouringWhat is body contouring?

Body contouring includes a variety of procedures to reshape the body, remove fat, and generally improve physical appearance. Dr. Lakin uses procedures such as tummy tucks, breast lifts, upper and lower body lifts, gluteal augmentation, and the removal of excess skin from the arms and thighs to help his patients achieve their optimal physical appearances.

What is gluteal augmentation?

Gluteal or buttock augmentation or a butt lift can be performed with a variety of techniques, from fat transfer to excess skin removal to silicone implant placement. Dr. Lakin may recommend a combination of these treatments, creating a surgical plan according to the level of volume, lift, and shape you want.

What are upper and lower body lifts?

When a patient wants to reshape and contour his or her body, an upper and/ or lower body lift can remove any excess fat and skin to improve the shape of the torso, arms, legs, or buttocks. The procedures typically combine liposuction and the excision of excess skin. If a patient has had significant weight loss in a relatively short amount of time, he or she may have excess skin around their arms, thighs, or torso. Dr. Lakin can surgically remove that extra skin which has not only the benefit of an improved appearance but also reduces the risk of infections forming in any folds of skin. How is the breast augmentation procedure performed?

Breast augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis, which means patients can go home the same day. Once the patient has been anesthetized, an incision will be made to enable the implant to be inserted. Incisions can be made around the nipple, in the crease beneath the breast or in the armpit, and incision location will be made based on the implant type and size and other factors. A pocket will be created in the tissue behind the breast to hold and support the implant. The pocket can be located in front of or behind the chest muscle. The implant will be inserted into the pocket, and if a saline implant is being used, the saline solution will be injected into the implant to achieve the proper size. Silicone implants already contain the gel when they are implanted. Once the implants are in place, they will be visually evaluated to ensure their placement is ideal and then the incisions will be closed and a bandage will be applied to aid in healing.
